MMR is a safe and effective combined vaccine that protects against three separate illnesses – measles, mumps and rubella (German measles) – in a single injection. The full course of MMR vaccination requires 2 doses.
Measles, mumps and rubella are highly infectious conditions that can have serious, and potentially fatal, complications, including meningitis, swelling of the brain (encephalitis) and deafness.
If you have not previously received your vaccination, please telephone the surgery to book an appointment with the nurse.
If you are moving abroad on a permanent basis, you will no longer automatically be entitled to medical treatment under normal NHS rules. This is because the NHS is a residence-based healthcare system. You'll have to notify your GP so that you and your family can be removed from the NHS register
Self Care is about looking after yourself; living a healthy lifestyle and looking at what you can do and want to do- rather than what you can’t do.
It is also about taking responsibility for your own health and wellbeing with the support of the people involved in your care.
This could be brushing your teeth regularly, taking medicine when you have a cold, or doing some exercise. It is really important to help keep yourself as well as possible.
We have a useful Self Care leaflet available to pick up in the surgery or access it here Keep Calm and Self Care
